Bill “Doc” Lovett’s background speaks of his love of farming.  He was raised in an agricultural setting, with his father growing many crops.  As a child he grew his very own radish field. From that point on farming was in his blood.  His desire to grow plants never ceased even though it was put on hold for several years while he attended veterinary school in Auburn, Ala.  Even then, he grew a sizable vegetable garden in the backyard. After graduating from lovetts

Auburn, his hobby involved growing acres of watermelons.  In 1987 he became partners in an interior foliage nursery.  This began his love of the nursery business. So in 1998 he began Lovett Farms, with approximately 12 acres.

Pam, a graduate of University of Florida, taught math while Doc was in veterinary school.  When they moved to Wauchula to open Doc’s Veterinary clinic, Pam took on the role of “Girl Friday”, doing everything from assisting in surgery to keeping the books.  Gradually her position narrowed down to bookkeeper.  Then when Lovett Farms grew to the point that it became necessary to open an “official” office, she once again stepped in to manage the office and keep the books.  She continues in that position when she is not enjoying her favorite occupation—Grandma!
